UK e retailer lists prices for Xperia XZ and X Compact

Sony just pulled the wraps off of its new Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact models, both of which can be checked out on our hands-on post. The Xperia X Compact has a 4.6 inch screen, Snapdragon 650 + 3GB of RAM, and a 2900mAh battery while the Xperia XZ has a 5.2 inch screen, Snapdragon 820 chipset + 3GB of RAM, and a 2700mAH battery.

The big news now is that e-retailer Clove.co.uk listed both new smartphones and even took the liberty of pricing them as follows:

Sony Xperia X Compact:

  • Available in 3 colors: Universe Black, Mist Blue, and (just) White.
  • £315.83 Ex VAT £379.00 Inc VAT â€" 32GB model

Sony Xperia XZ:

  • Available in 3 colors: Forest Blue, Mineral Black, and Platinum.
  • £457.50 Ex VAT £549 Inc VAT â€" 32GB model

Clove is expecting to stock the Sony Xperia X Compact the week starting Se ptember 12 while the Xperia XZ isn’t expected to hit Clove’s inventory until “early October”. This would put the Xperia XZ at the same pricepoint in the UK as the X Performance when it launched. If we can expect that the XZ will be priced the same way, we could expect to see the Xperia XZ make it to the US for $749. But the drop in value of the British Pound could translate to a slightly altered States-side price, perhaps $699?

The Xperia X Compact also has a pretty good price, it has the same CPU as the Xperia X whose phone’s launch price in the UK was a hefty £499. The Xperia X Compact’s supposed price would put Sony back on the map in the sub-400 price range. The UK price for the Xperia X Compact translates to a tad-bit above $500.

What do you think of these prices for the Sony Xperia XZ and X Compact? Are they still a bit too high?

Thanks for the tip, Sanusi!
