Nokia 6 reaches 250 000 registrations in less than 24 hours

Yesterday the Nokia 6 was put up for pre-registration in China, the market where it will make its debut on January 19. The phone is listed by JD.com, Chinas biggest online retailer and Nokias exclusive sales partner for the country, for a price of CNY 1,699 ($245 or €231 approximately).

The reservations arent open 24/7 for some reason, perhaps in order to build (even more) anticipation for the handset. Right now you cant register to get one, but a new window will open in a few hours. The Nokia 6 seems to be quite successful if we go by the number of registrations metric, because in a few hours yesterday it managed to make more than 250,000 people interested in it.

Since the Chinese registration system is different from having pre-orders where you pay in advance for the product, this doesnt mean that 250,000 people have already bought the phone. In fact to make a reservation you only need to put down a CNY 66 (thats $9 or €9) deposit, so presumably some of those registrations wont actually be turned into sales.

If youre interested in Nokias resurrection in the mobile world, you should know that the Nokia 6 may be sold in other markets too at some point in the future. And even if that doesnt pan out, Nokia will be announcing some more phones at MWC in February, one of which could be the recently leaked Nokia 8 flagship.
